Stories with scars, surprises, and something to fight for.
I write science fiction and epic fantasy where power always has a price and victory rarely arrives clean. My stories follow imperfect people facing impossible choices in worlds that do not surrender their secrets easily.
I am interested in what people do when the rules they trusted stop working: what they protect, what they sacrifice, and what they become afterward. Expect dangerous discoveries, hard-earned hope, and the occasional dragon with questionable professional boundaries.
The hat is real. The dragon is under contract.
Elsewhere
Away from the keyboard.
Stargazing has claimed a serious share of my life. Spending time under the night sky changes the way a person thinks about distance, scale, discovery, and our place among things vastly larger than ourselves. It is not difficult to see how some of that finds its way into my science fiction.
Closer to Earth, I enjoy fishing and boating, including fly fishing and tying flies. I also play guitar and spend time around the table with role-playing games—another place where choices, consequences, and unruly stories tend to appear.
Beyond fiction
Some questions refuse to stay inside a story.
Writing is not my only interest. I am also developing Volitionism, a philosophical project concerned with human choice, agency, and the ideas we use to make sense of our lives.
It has its own home, separate from the novels. Readers who are curious are welcome to explore it; readers who are here for spaceships, warlocks, and dragons will not find it standing between them and the books.
